Arsenal are ‘keen’ on signing Chelsea winger Willian on a free transfer, according to the Daily Telegraph. There were reports in the French media earlier this week linking the 31-year-old with the Gunners and the English newspaper has now corroborated the story.
Mikel Arteta’s side are believed to be competing with Tottenham and Bayern Munich for the Brazilian international with the player free to move clubs once his contract expires at the end of June.
Supporters on Twitter are not convinced Willian should be on the club’s radar:

We moan about signing older players like him and then he end up going juve or Bayern and being brilliant for 2-3 seasons.

Willian’s age is not the only thing about Arsenal’s interest that raises questions. The Brazilian generally favours playing from the right-hand side so if he were to make the switch across London, he would be directly competing against record signing Nicolas Pepe.
The Chelsea star is still a regular under manager Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge, having made 37 appearances in all competitions this season, but the Blues are refusing to offer more than a two-year contract extension.
