Edu Provides Update On When He Will Take Up Role With Arsenal

Edu Gaspar has said he will know more about his future following a meeting with Brazilian federation president Rogerio Caboclo.

The former Arsenal midfielder was expected to take up a technical director role with the Gunners following the Copa America, but when asked about his departure to England by ESPN Brazil, he replied:

“It will depend on today’s meeting. We are finishing up our business, and then I begin to define these issues.”

Edu has been tipped to take up the position with Arsenal for a number of months now, but his contract with the Brazilian FA runs until 2022.

Following Brazil’s triumph at the Copa America, he may be persuaded to stay in his position as technical coordinator.

However, it is believed that Edu is already having an influence on the club’s transfer targets with Gabriel Martinelli having already been signed from Brazil, while Corinthians right-back Fagner has also been linked.

Since retiring from football in 2010, the 41-year-old has been Corinthians’s Director of Football before taking up his latest position with Brazil’s national side in 2016.
