Speculation that Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil could be sold for a cut-price deal in the January transfer window has got fans talking on social media.
There has been constant talk about the German international’s relationship with manager Unai Emery, and recent reports suggest that a £25m move to Inter Milan could be on the cards:
Some supporters on Twitter don’t think the move will happen for a number of reasons:
I don’t think he is out of favor at Arsenal, he is still in the scheme of things, just injured.

Deal won’t happen because of wages. End of

If, and it’s a huge IF, they well him the issue is who will match his wages. No small thing

Agree that we need him a lot! But the £25m isn’t really the thing it’s more about not paying tons of money to his salary. He has a huge contract. If we don’t see fit of him we would prob give him away for free just to get room for other signings.

Why would we sell Ozil and Ramsey too? Doesn’t make sense at all. Completely agree with the fact that last 2 games creativity was lacking. This combined with a dip in form for Iwobi and Mikhi makes Ozil indispensible I guess.

A few Gunners fans believe his inconsistency and high wages would mean a cheap sale could be beneficial:
And that £25m and the saving of at least £250k a week could go to a more consistent performer

Get his £350k a week off the books. Find someone that will perform every match and not be selective when they want to give effort.

25 mil is lot for him. That would be awesome.

I’d like us to let him go. 25m would be great considering we just renewed his contract. I trust Emery to have a replacement.

Currently, much of the discussion surrounding Ozil is highly speculative. It’s true he was benched for the game against Bournemouth last month, but since then he has been out with a back injury.
Prior to his absence, Emery had selected the 30-year-old as captain for four of the player’s last five matches. It’s hardly an indication that the midfielder is on the brink of leaving the Emirates.
