Arsenal are weighing up appointing Freddie Ljungberg as interim boss if the club do decide to fire manager Unai Emery, according to reports in the English media.
The Gunners have yet to decide whether to sack the Spaniard but with results having been so poor in recent months, a change could lead to the appointment of his assistant on a temporary basis.
Supporters on Twitter are mostly behind Ljungberg getting the job if appointed:
Yes please

Others think the club need to make a decisive move by bringing in another long-term appointment straight away:
No thanks literally making it up as we go along. Freddie only has experience managing kids also part of the set up at the moment anyway so what would he actually change if anything? Don’t get me started on Steve Bould needs to follow Steve Morrow out the door

We need Pochtino

Arsenal’s intention has always been to assess Emery’s situation in the summer. The Spanish coach has a two-year contract with an option for a further year, so if things don’t work out, they would part ways at the end of the season.
Therefore, it seems likely that the board would want time to make any future appointment so putting Ljungberg in charge until the summer would make sense in that regard, especially if their primary target isn’t available until then.
