Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has suggested that he could leave the Gunners in order to realise his ambitions.
The 26-year-old is currently away on international duty with Switzerland, but when asked about his future, he hinted he may consider moving clubs:
“I’m very ambitious, I want to take the next step, Arsenal does not have to be the last stop.”
Xhaka only signed a new five-year contract back in June, despite the fact he hasn’t always impressed since moving from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2016.
His form has certainly picked up this campaign, with the midfielder having made 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and laying on three assists.
Still, it’s highly unlikely that Europe’s elite would be interested in recruiting Xhaka, especially as Arsenal are unlikely to consider selling for less than the £35m they paid for him.
The midfielder is due to play for Switzerland against Denmark on Tuesday night before returning to the Gunners for their next league match against Newcastle United on Monday week.
