Wright Thinks Fall Out With Star Could Cause Emery’s Downfall At Arsenal

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes manager Unai Emery’s fall out with star player Mesut Ozil could lead to the Gunners boss losing his job in the long run.

The former striker turned pundit thinks the lack of creativity in the absence of Ozil is leading to poor results, and he could see it proving fatal to Emery unless performances improve:

“They’re actually not creating as much and they’re conceding more shots on target. So that says to me you need somebody who’s creative to be playing there.”

“Mesut Ozil is that guy, I don’t know what’s going on with him and Unai Emery, but for me I think this could be the problem for Unai in the end if Arsenal continue to do what they’re doing.”

“They’re waiting for [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang or [Nicolas] Pepe, like the other day, to save them. The fact is he should be playing.”

So far this campaign, Arsenal have scored just 13 in nine Premier League games, while they have conceded 12. In terms of shots against in the league, there are only four other teams who have faced more: Aston Villa, Norwich, Burnley and Bournemouth.

If they don’t tighten things at the back, and they continue to struggle in the final third of the pitch, Emery will certainly come under pressure, but will that lead to him bringing back Ozil?

The Spaniard has said that the decision to freeze out the German has been agreed with the club’s hierarchy, suggesting that the player will almost certainly leave if a new club can be found.
