Wright Points Out Key Mistake By “Poor” Arsenal Star Which Led To Wolves Scoring

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Dani Ceballos was the key culprit for Wolves scoring their equaliser in the 1-1 draw yesterday evening.

The Spaniard was on his heels from a throw-in, leading to Joao Moutinho to get in behind the Gunners defence before chipping the ball in for Raul Jimenez to score. Wright singled out the midfielder’s mistake and the poor defending in general:

“I don’t know what to say. It’s poor from Ceballos, they switch off, Wolves, it’s a good ball in, there are two defenders and he [Jimenez] beats them quite easily.”

Ceballos is not a defensive-minded player, and part of the reason why he was in that position in the first place is likely because Lucas Torreira had been replaced by Bukayo Saka a few minutes before.

The Uruguayan’s substitution was a curious decision in the first place, considering the home side were 1-0 up at the time and Wolves were pushing for an equaliser.

Of course, even after Ceballos switched off, there were opportunities to clear the danger but neither Sokratis nor Calum Chambers managed to deal with the cross, and the goal was conceded.
