Here we look at the Women’s FA Cup Round Up As Arsenal Thrash Leeds. The 4th round of the Women’s FA Cup was definitely a successful one for Arsenal, as they swept aside Leeds by a score of 9-0. The goalscorers included Kim Little, Victoria Pelova and a brace from Stina Blackstenius.
It was a wonderful display from the Gunners who firmly took hold of their place in the fifth round. With the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea also making it through, they could be faced with a tricky draw.
Manchester City brushed aside Sheffield United, winning 7-0, while Spurs easily defeated London City by a score of 5-0. Manchester United also made it through as they beat Sunderland 2-1 away from home. The Black Cats didn’t make it easy, but United eventually emerged as 2-1 victors.
Chelsea, meanwhile, defeated Liverpool in a cup classic. Despite goals from Ceri Holland and Gemma Bonner, a Sam Kerr hattrick ensured that the Blues would be progressing to the fifth round.
Reading and Leicester met in an all-WSL clash, with Reading emerging victorious. The game ended 2-2 at the end of extra time, with the Royals winning 3-2 on penalties.
Everton, meanwhile, were on the receiving end of an FA Cup shock as they were beaten by Birmingham at home by 1-0. Everton are currently fifth in the WSL, but couldn’t find a way to score past their second tier opposition.
The other WSL teams who progressed to the fifth round were Brighton, Aston Villa and West Ham. They’ll be joined by Coventry, Charlton, Bristol City, Cardiff, Lewes and Durham. The fifth round draw will take place on Monday, January 30 at 6:30pm. Who would you like to see Arsenal come up against?
