Wilshere Will Not Feature For England In Brazil – Pearce

Jack Wilshere was considered to be the future of English football when he burst onto the international scene in 2011 aged just 18. However, he has been dogged by injury problems in recent years and is no longer viewed as an automatic starter for country.

The likes of Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Ross Barkley and Frank Lampard are all competing with him for a place in England’s starting eleven. The 22-year-old wasn’t able to hit the heights for his club this season with Aaron Ramsey easily overshadowing him.

According to Pearce, Wilshere’s lack of form will count against him and he does not believe that the midfielder will even kick a ball in England’s World Cup campaign.

According to talkSPORT, he said, “I think there are five players that will not kick a ball at the World Cup. Forster and Foster are the obvious ones and I think Shaw, Smalling and Wilshere will be the others.”

“I think he [Wilshere] is very, very short of form. Watching the last game [against Honduras] I didn’t see a Wilshere that sprung on the scene many months ago. I just think he is very, very short of confidence and I see Lampard, Lallana or Barkley ahead of him now.”

Not surprising that Pearce sees it this way as Wilshere has been unlucky after sustaining a hairline fracture of the left foot the last time he played for England vs Denmark but we expect him to get the call from Roy Hodgson as Roy is a fan of Jack’s and believes in his talent.
