Arsenal have been on a hot streak over the past two months and Wilshere is one of the players that has contributed to this amazing start. Unfortunately for him he may be left out for the next matches because of his off pitch behavior. Wenger is already using a rotation system to rest players and prioritize on some of the most important competitions of the season. After seeing images of Wilshere smoking outside a nightclub, Wenger’s statements indicated that the 21 year old midfielder might be punished for his actions.

The England international was not given the chance to play much against Napoli as a result of his little slip-up and it appears as though he will not play a part against West Brom.  What is even worse for the young midfielder is that Ozil has rapidly become Arsenal’s leading man. The German international has shown great form and has outshined Wilshere, even if he just arrived at the Emirates Stadium at the beginning of the season.

According to ESPN, Wenger was not targeting Wilshere directly but was clearly bothered by his player’s off-pitch actions. The Frenchman said competition is fierce right now which is a good thing for the entire team. With that in mind, the 21 year old midfielder will not have a spot secured in the starting line-up especially when you consider that Wilshere’s favorite position is the same as Ozil. Arsenal will not be able to play both of them at the same time in every match because by doing so they would have to have a less defensive team. In some cases this strategy will not be possible.

Wenger also spoke about the fact that Wilshere should learn to adapt to any midfield position. Even if his favorite spot is facing goal, the young England international should be ready to play on the left-side or somewhere in the lower part of the field just behind Ozil. The Frenchman has spoken about how glad he is to have tough competition for spots in Arsenal’s first team. Wenger also said that it will be impossible to have 25 satisfied players at all times.
