Wilshere Shows Leadership Qualities Ahead Of Spurs Game

Wilshere is just 21 but he is already showing the leadership qualities needed to be a captain of Arsenal. The young Englishman is a born leader according to several of the players who have faced Arsenal and their English international. He has just reached a new agreement with the Gunners, signing a 5 year contract. Wenger says he will be a future Arsenal captain and even though he turned 21 this January he has been around for long enough to know how to handle and lead the Emirates team.

This season has been really rough, with the Gunners failing to win any trophies. Wenger, who has been with Arsenal for 16 years, has not signed a new contract yet with his current agreement set to expire in 2014. After missing out on the FA Cup and after an unfortunate result against Bayern Munich, Arsenal’s only remaining goal for this season is to finish in the top 4 and qualify for next year’s Champions League. Their main rivals are Spurs who are now just a point in front of Arsenal, but they do have a game in hand.

The next Premier League fixtures see Tottenham and Arsenal facing off in a game which could go a long way to determining who will finish in the top 4. After winning 2-1 against Villa, the Gunners are confident they can close the gap that separates them from Villas-Boas’ team.

Wilshere showed his leadership qualities in an interview after the Villa game when he called on his team-mates and on Arsenal’s fans to step it up against Tottenham. He wanted to express his focus on next weeks’ match and also to motivate his colleagues for what will be a crucial encounter.

The English midfielder spoke out to his colleagues saying that they should get over recent unfortunate results and focus on the good run of form they have been on in the Premier League when preparing for Tottenham. It is going to be a difficult match for both sides but hopefully the Gunners will manage a win. A victory against their North London neighbors would be a massive morale boost as they look to ensure Champions League football for an impressive 16th season in a row .
