Arsene Wenger will breathe a temporary sigh of relief after his side won in the UEFA Champions League against Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates Stadium. The manager was under pressure on the back of this fixture, and injury troubles were mounting on the squad. Also, Olivier Giroud had not been registered for the game since he was not expected to be fit for the same. This meant Yaya Sanogo got the opportunity to step up and the young striker played his part in the game.

Wilshere has had a terrible string of injuries since breaking into the first team setup in 2010. The midfielder has been subject to bad tackles, and has had long layoffs as a result. The England international has been out for a total of 119 weeks through injury since 2010, and he has suffered a similar ankle injury before. However, a surgery has now meant the left footed player will be out for several months, and Wenger will have to think of an alternate arrangement for the midfield with Aaron Ramsey bringing the flair in the middle of the park.
