Who Is Taylor Foran? The Arsenal Youngster Who Has Been Chosen By Arteta To Train With The First Team

Arsenal teenager Taylor Foran has flown out with the first-team squad for the training camp in Dubai this week but what do we know about the player?

The 18-year-old is a defender, but in an interview with the club’s website back in June, he described himself as “not your typical modern-day centre-back”, stating that he focuses on his defending first before worrying about other aspects of his game.

Foran seems to be more old school in the mould of a Martin Keown or Steve Bould, and it doesn’t appear to have set him back in terms of making progress through the Hale End Academy.

The centre-half played his first FA Youth Cup game against Cheltenham in December 2019 before establishing himself as a regular starter in the Under 18 Premier League last season.

It was a swift rise for Foran as he made his debut for the Under 23s in Premier League 2 in October 2020 before finishing the campaign with the Unders 18s by captaining in three games. He is very vocal on the pitch and that undoubtedly has led to him being seen as a future leader.

Foran has not yet moved up to the Under 23s full time but he has featured in the EFL Trophy this campaign, playing in the group games against Newport County and Plymouth.
