Move to Europe
Just over a year after making his first-team debut, Gerson agreed to sign for Serie A side Roma for €15m in July 2016. The switch to Italy did not prove to be a successful one, though.
The Brazilian was barely used during his first season, making just 12 appearances in all competitions, with only two league starts.
