Arsenal are interested in Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara, according to the player’s agent. Daniele Piraino said that while the Guinean international is focused on playing for his current team, he was happy that a club like the Gunners are pursuing him:

“He is concentrated on his career. Diawara is at a top club like Roma, where he is happy, as there is enthusiasm around the new owners. However, he is also liked by many clubs in England, including Arsenal. Being linked with certain clubs is pleasing for him, as these are prestigious sides. Amadou is concentrated on football and his career.”

Diawara is likely seen as a cheaper alternative to Thomas Partey. A bid for the Atletico Madrid midfielder is looking less and less likely with the Spanish side adamant that the Ghanaian will only be sold if a club matches his €50m (£45m) release clause.
