What is Arsenal’s best XI coming into the 18/19 season?

Arsenal have made significant movements in the transfer window so far this summer, and it’s fair to say that the squad is looking stronger than it has in years.

The arrival of Unai Emery to replace Arsene Wenger has brought a lot of genuine excitement about the upcoming season, and his transfer business has only increased that feel good factor.

So far the Gunners have added five new players to their squad, with Stephan Lichtsteiner joining on a free transfer from Juventus, Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of around £16m, Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria for £26.5m, Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen for £19m and finally Matteo Guendouzi joining from Lorient costing £8m.

There could well be more signings on the way, and arguably there needs to be. But the squad is certainly looking healthy and there wouldn’t be a huge cause for concern if no more players were added.

We’ve decided to have a go at predicting Arsenal’s best XI, see the image below and tell us what you think in the comments.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not Petr Cech will remain as the No.1 with Leno coming in, and Laurent Koscielny is out of action for several months still – so with their 2018/19 Premier League opener against Manchester City just weeks away on August 12 it is certain to be a fairly different team to the one above.

One thing that stands out about Arsenal for the upcoming season is that they have a lot more depth in the squad, injuries and poor form is inevitable so it is vital that Emery has decent backup in every position.
