Arsenal are no longer in contention to sign Leeds winger Raphinha, according to reports in the Brazilian media.
It is believed that the Gunners have not been in contact with the 25-year-old’s representatives since Chelsea tabled an offer for the player earlier this week.
Supporters on Twitter are now resigned to losing out on Raphinha, with many hoping that the club move swiftly on to other targets who are keener on making the switch to the Emirates:
Good let’s move to the next one. What a waste of time

I’m already over this, I just want Arsenal to get Martinez and Tielemans done.

Good. We shouldn’t accept being Raphinha’s side chick while we wait and see if Barca can bid or not. We actually have self respect unlike Chelsea 👍

Things can change quickly in football. This time last week Arsenal were stepping up their attempts to secure Raphinha’s signature but it’s clear that the player’s head has been turned by interest from elsewhere.
The lack of contact with the Brazilian’s agent suggests technical director Edu has already opted to pursue different options, which seems like a wise decision. The likes of Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry, Porto’s Pepe and Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio have all been mentioned as potential alternatives so it remains to be seen who will now be the club’s number one priority.
