The agent of Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has confirmed that the 31-year-old will not be leaving before the end of his contract at the Emirates.
The midfielder’s current deal expires in 2021, and speaking to the I newspaper, Dr Erkut Sogut said that his client has no intention of leaving the Gunners:
“At the moment, we don’t even talk about it, because he still has one-and-a-half-years left. He still has 15 months to go. Until then, he will stay at Arsenal, for sure. He will stay until the end of his contract. There’s no chance he’ll leave.”
Some supporters on Twitter feel Ozil should be offloaded at the first opportunity:
What a shame

Cut your losses and just release him. He doesn’t deserve his salary.

During his entire career with Arsenal he would’ve stole over £90m in wages from us.. What an absolute waste!

The German is reportedly earning over £350,000 a week so it is not a surprise that he is unwilling to leave before his contract ends.
Ozil’s performances hardly merit what he is earning. The midfielder has scored just once this campaign, as well as contributing just two assists in 22 appearances for the London club.
Although Sogut goes on to say that there are other “options” on the table for his player, it does appear that he will continue to wear the Arsenal shirt for at least another 15 months.
