There was a lot of excitement over the weekend when reports emerged that Spotify founder Daniel Ek was serious about a takeover bid for Arsenal.
However, reliable journalist David Ornstein has confirmed that any offer would likely be rejected by Stan Kroenke, who has never sold one of his sports teams.
Supporters on Twitter were unsurprising very disappointed by Ornstein’s comments, although many don’t think the fight to get the current owner out of the club should stop there:
We're screwed

This could be a long, attritional battle to oust Kroenke. The American is an absentee owner, much like the Glazers at Manchester United, and it means he is isolated from the day-to-day goings-on at the club.
It will, however, be interesting to see whether Ek can come up with an offer that would tempt Kroenke. His net worth of £3.1 Billion is a lot more than the £2 Billion Arsenal are currently valued at but, even so, the billionaire is unlikely to spend over half his fortune on buying a football club.
