Wenger’s Arsenal Looking To Push On

Arsenal have been unplayable of late, and have scored the maximum points when compared to any other team in the last few months. They have managed to collect a staggering number of 26 points out of the possible last 30, which have propelled them into the top 4 for the consecutive 16th season. They will be playing in next season’s UEFA Champions League, as they have done in every year since Wenger has taken over.

The Arsenal renaissance began after that inspiring and uplifting 2-0 away victory against Bayern Munich, as that win’s giant ripples created a huge effect on the Gunners, who since then went on a rampage in the league and have pipped fierce cross-town rivals Tottenham Hotspurs to the 4th spot.

Following the departure of Robin van Persie in the summer, and given Arsenal’s league position of 8th at the end of last year, many had written Wenger and Arsenal off this time around to make it to the top 4. However, the London club have defied all the odds and managed to preserve their status. Wenger spoke to the media after their gritty 1-0 win at Newcastle United on Sunday and it was reported by Metro that the Frenchman feels that his players can take this season’s strong finish as a springboard and start next season with a bang and put a sustained effort and pose a strong challenge for the league title. He said, “Since February 1, we have taken more points than everybody else in the league – this team has grown through the season.”

“We lacked belief for long periods because we couldn’t win a big game, but the Bayern [Munich] game changed our season away from home.”

“In the last three months, I believe we have been remarkably consistent. We have won every away game, so it is a good springboard for next season, to transfer that belief into the start of next season.”
