Wenger Wants Amicable Suarez Negotiations

The Gunners have shown a huge interest in Luis Suarez this summer and have already had two bids turned down by the Merseysiders, the latest being their club record bid of £40,000,001 which they were hoping would trigger Suarez’s release clause.

Liverpool have however been adamant on their stance of their star player and maintain that they want to retain his services. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers have been less than impressed by Arsenal’s persistent attempts to prize Suarez away from Anfield, so much so that he has also lashed out at the London outfit by accusing them of ‘lacking class’ in their approach.

Wenger was asked about Rodgers’ comments to which he simply said that he will be taking the most civil and amicable approach there is, and that he will be sticking to the rule book in his attempts to sign Suarez. The Evening Standard quoted him as saying, “We try to do it properly, but a transfer is always an agreement between three parties and we have always done that until now.”

Wenger is not known to play dirty tricks in the transfer market to get his desired target, he has always been one to abide by the rules and to fulfill all the criteria needed to complete a transfer amicably. Also, Rodgers’ accusations towards Wenger and Arsenal about lacking class are somewhat farfetched, given the fact that they have simply adhered to the release clause in Suarez’s contract and have made a bid of £40 million which in fact meets the demand.

Liverpool are prepared to slog it out, if that is what it takes to keep hold of Suarez. However, Arsenal on the other hand are not at all keen to go the nasty way and want an amicable end to discussions to this drawn out transfer saga.

Which way do you see this going through? Will it take a nasty or an amicable route from now on?
