Wenger Still Looking For Smart Deals

According to Metro, Arsenal have now decided to stop pursuing the Diego Costa lead. Atletico’s player is too expensive for the Gunners who despite having a generous transfer budget, cannot invest all their funds in just one player.

Wenger’s managerial tendencies are what come between Costa and Arsenal. The Frenchman estimated the striker’s transfer at around £145million which is almost 5 times as much as first thought.

Rumors had it that Costa would be able to leave Madrid for £32million which would have been acceptable for Arsenal. Wenger’s recent statements snubbed those pieces of information and insisted the entire deal would be too much for the Gunners.

Even if the Emirates team is in desperate need of some fire power, a £145million would be a bit of a stretch. With that much money, Arsenal could sign at least three players who perform at the same level as Ozil does.

Costa’s contract with Atletico Madrid is apparently bound by a release cause which was not made public. He signed a new deal with the Spanish side during the summer which means there is a slight chance he could leave this January. Even so, according to Wenger, North London is no longer a possible destination for the 25 year old striker.
