Wenger Speaks Up On Wilshere’s Smoking Fiasco

The Arsenal midfielder was out partying in a London nightclub with his friends, and was snapped while smoking what looked like a cigarette. These images were leaked and within no time, were flooded all over the internet.

This news reached his manager Arsene Wenger who was asked about this incident in his recent press-conference and the Frenchman has said that Wilshere’s actions were disappointing and that he intends to have a private word with the English international about this at the earliest possible time.

ESPNFC report him as saying, “I disagree completely with that behaviour,”

“I don’t know what has happened and I will have to have a chat with him about that. When you are a footballer you are an example and also don’t do what damages your health.”

“You can smoke at home and drink at home and nobody sees it, but when you go out socially, you damage your reputation as well. I have not spoken to him yet and what I say will be between him and me.”

There has been some noise made from Wilshere’s representatives who have come out in the open and saying that Wilshere does not smoke and he was snapped while performing a simple dare of momentarily ‘holding’ a cigarette in his mouth. The source revealed, “Jack was with teammates and friends. One dared Jack, who does not smoke, to momentarily hold the cigarette as part of a prank.”

“Jack absolutely didn’t smoke the cigarette, and nor does he condone smoking. Jack is utterly committed to fitness and a healthy lifestyle. In no way is this picture an accurate reflection of his attitude towards smoking.”

This off-the-field story is something Arsenal could very well do without, as it could go some distance in probably derailing the Gunners’ preparations for their game at West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. They are the high flying team at the moment and any sort of distraction which could hinder the club’s preparations should be kept away.

Do you see Wilshere possibly suffering football-wise because of this little off-the-field fiasco? Or will he quickly sort this out with Wenger and get back to playing football?
