Wenger plays down Alexis Sanchez transfer rumours

Arsene Wenger has insisted that the club have not received any offers for star man Alexis Sanchez, as the Chilean enters the final 6 months of his contract.

Sanchez fuelled rumours about his departure from the Emirates after he was spotted in Paris after a two day break he was given. This corresponded with rumours about a transfer to PSG, with Sanchez believed to be the French club’s top target.

It is almost certain that the forward will leave the club at some point within the next few weeks, whether it be on a permanent transfer in January or signing a pre-contract agreement that will see him join the club in the summer.

It has since been reported that Sanchez was only stopping over in Paris whilst travelling back to London after spending Christmas in Chile, but PSG are among the favourites to sign the 29-year-old, so of course there will rumours thrown around.

Sanchez was denied a deadline day move to Manchester City last summer, and has looked very disinterested for Arsenal this season so far.

It is believed that City and PSG will lock horns over his signature, but Wenger insists he has not received any offers in relation to Sanchez moving away next month.

He told the Mirror: “We have not been approached by anyone. Other than that I stand by what I have said before.

“In the transfer window I will be busy.

“Clubs will contact us to buy and loan players and I will be open to any possibilities to strengthen our team.
