Wenger: Ozil Show Not Done Yet

According to Metro, Arsene Wenger has confidence in that club record signing Mesut Ozil will continue to help the club reach greater heights, as the attacking midfielder has already added several assists to his tally after only his third game for the club in all competitions.

Arsenal have been one of the most consistent teams in the Barclays Premier League, winning each of their four matches, after the first day loss at the hands of Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium. While officials may admit spending was always on the cards, it was the game against Villa in August that made Wenger put his foot down against the board and demanding big money to be made available in the remainder of the transfer market. And indeed big money was made available to Wenger, which was used by the French boss very intuitively on a player that has caught the eye of many experts over the past few years. Deadline day saw Arsenal break their club record transfer fee, signing Ozil on a long term contract for £42.4 million, with Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale finally securing his move to Spain. Ozil’s time at Real Madrid was ticking, and with club president Florentino Perez accusing the player to have been unprofessional, it was clear that the relationship between club and player was never sound in the first place.

Ozil’s addition to the Arsenal squad can be described as a phenomenon, giving both the supporters, the players, and most of all, the manager a new lease of life. The German international has been a unique player in his position, and with his footballing intelligence, a sweet left foot, Ozil is capable of carving passes to the strikers, making him an ideal playmaker.

A player that has certainly benefitted from Ozil’s arrival is Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman has hit top form over the past few matches, scoring goals for fun. Ozil’s arrival meant Ramsey, who is finally past his bad injury days, can express himself better in front of goal, and let the intelligent passing be done by Ozil.

Wenger said, “I believe that once he is completely integrated we will see even more of him,

“The assists are not a coincidence, it is the reality of his game.”
