Wenger Monitors Potential Young Star – Strategy In Intact

Arsenal’s strategy regarding next season is not yet clear Wenger shows interest in signing both unexperienced and top class established footballers. The Frenchman expressed his desire to acquire David Villa, but also showed interest in Stoppila Sunzu, or according to recent news, for a young Nigerian called Godfrey Oboabona. Even though Arsenal have stated they have the funds necessary to invest in transfers and end the 7 year losing streak, it looks like Wenger still be sticking mostly to his well-known methods that don’t include expensive contracts.

Godfrey Oboabona is a 22 year old defender who had a key role in helping his national team to win the recent Africa Cup of Nations. He is valued at around £1 million, which makes him a really serious bargain. Oboabona is currently playing for the Sunshine Stares, which is a Nigerian team. He has managed to garner 18 selections for his country and has made a very good impression in the ACN.

According to recent declarations, Godfrey Oboabona has had received offers from teams from all the major leagues in the world. He also declared his love for Arsenal by saying the Gunners have been his favorite team since he was a child.

Godfrey Oboabona is the captain of his current team and signing him could be a nice deal to make. It is unlikely that Arsenal could use him at the start of the season even if he would start training at the beginning of the summer. Even though the Nigerian international has had some exceptionally good matches when playing for his national team, the gap between the Nigerian league and the Premier League is perhaps too big to fill in just a couple of months and he may need more time to acclimatise in the reserves if he were signed before joining the first team squad.

One of Godfrey Oboabona’s biggest advantages is apparently the fact that he is versatile and has had some experience with other positions such as striker and midfielder during his earlier years. This increased his ability to predict his adversaries better than most defenders as he reads the game very well. If Arsenal decides to sign him, you can most likely see him playing in the Championship or Ligue 1 or La Liga on loan for the next few years before he makes the move to the more physically demanding Premier League.
