Wenger May Have Found The Right Competitor For Giroud’s Spot

Arsenal have remained on top of the Premier League going into 2014 because of Walcott’s excellent performances. He managed to shine more than enough to outclass the West Ham defenders as he bagged a 2nd half brace and was one of the best Arsenal players vs Newcastle on Sunday as he supplied the ball for Giroud’s winner and he had a lob cleared off the line late on in the game.

According to Yahoo! Eurosport Walcott is keen on leaving his winger position behind in order to be more present in front of goal. The 24 year old apparently wants to follow in the footsteps of former teammates and Emirates idols Henry and Van Persie who were always on top of the scoring charts.

It would be a great solution for Wenger to use Walcott next to Giroud or even as an option to picking the Frenchman for every game. Walcott is a lot more confident in front of goal and might just be the striker the Gunners need to snatch the Premier League title.

Since Van Persie left for Manchester, scoring has been a problem for Arsenal. Even with Giroud’s hot start this season, he has cooled off lately although it was great to see him grabbing the winner vs Newcastle on Sunday. Ramsey is the Gunners’ current top goal-getter which says a lot about how efficient Arsenal’s forwards are. Walcott was out because of an injury but he has bounced back very well apparently. Hopefully he will be able to continue his great performances and help Wenger claim the Premier League title.

Wenger will probably consider using Walcott as a striker after the winter transfer period. Rumors that Benzema might be coming to London have emerged on a regular basis but seem highly unlikely meaning the Englishman might not have to wait much longer to become the next Thierry Henry.
