Wenger Looking To Add 17-Year-Old Left-Back

Arsenal are going through some important changes as far as the current lot goes. Some key players such as Mertesacker, Cazorla, Monreal and even Giroud are turning or have turned 30 which usually means Wenger needs to start looking for alternatives. Because of the fact that the Frenchman has been around for so long, he knows very well that it`s difficult to simply throw new players into a group and expect them to excel. He is a strong believer in the fact that great teams grow together which is exactly what he is trying at the Emirates. Recent signings show that the shift in generations is around the corner and that players like Bellerin, Iwobi or Holding represent the future. While the attack and midfield are pretty much set for the next couple of years, the defense has a whole different story.

Fortunately, up until now, all changes made by Wenger have been successful. Sagna’s departure was the perfect opportunity for Bellerin to step in – Debuchy’s injury problems contributed to the Spaniard’s chances to shine as well; Mertesacker’s long-term injury brought Holding and Mustafi to Emirates but there is still the left-flank Wenger needs to worry about. Even though Monreal is in excellent shape, a new left-back needs to be eased into the group. Just as the above mentioned were given more and more chances to perform, it should be the same for Arsenal’s future full-back.

The good news is that According to ESPN, the Gunners have found a promising solution for the left side of the defense. Hull City’s Josh Tymon who just made his Premier League debut just a couple of days ago, has been playing for his current club since last year when he was just 16.

This news couldn’t have come at a better time as Bellerin’s words regarding his future at the Emirates should have a massive impact on someone who is close to the Spaniard’s age when he started playing for the Gunners. Bellerin said – “Arsenal is not only about being a footballer, you have to be a good person to play here. That’s what everyone transmits inside the club. You represent more than just a football club. I’m a player who tries to be an example for everyone, not just on the pitch but off it as well”, as reported by SkySports. This is or should be what every youngster looks for in a team. Money can come from dozens of other clubs but few can give Tymon what Arsenal will. Having him grow next to Monreal and replace him while in his 20’s surely does sound interesting.
