Wenger Keen On French Attacker

The Gunners are going all out this summer as they have already announced their intentions for next season and they have been linked to big name strikers and midfielders in recent weeks. The London club find themselves sitting on heaps of cash available to them for bringing top quality players to the Emirates Stadium.

They have already started making place for new players by moving on fringe players like Sebastien Squilacci, Denilson and Andrei Arshavin. This has not only made room in the squad, but it has also freed up a massive amount of money on wages which can be re-utilized on the summer signings.

Arsenal have already been linked to the likes of Wayne Rooney, Cesc Fabregas and Marouane Fellaini, and are now in pole position to land Real Madrid’s Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain in the coming days. However, this has not stopped them from looking even further as they have now set their sights on French outfit Lille’s Dimitri Payet.

The 26-year old had a fruitful outing last season as he attracted suitors with his menacing runs down the flank, along with scoring goals as he found the back of the net on 12 occasions and according to DailyMail, he has attracted Wenger who is now understood to be keen to lure yet another French counterpart to London.

The future of Ivorian international Gervinho is also up in the air, so it makes sense for Arsenal to be looking at alternatives should Gervinho end up leaving Arsenal and returning to France where Marseille are understood to be interested in purchasing him.

Payet would be a like for like replacement for Gervinho and is someone who can genuinely provide stiff competition for players such as Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as Arsenal’s first choice wide man. Would you like to see him join Arsenal? Or would you rather stick with Gervinho and hope that he finally comes up good and finds some consistency next season?
