Wenger: I Almost Signed Hazard At Home!

Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal’s pursuit of Eden Hazard before his move to Chelsea, and according to the Daily Mail, the Frenchman has claimed that the Belgian’s agent visited the manager at his residence.

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale have set a precedent for top class footballers who have achieved success at a young age, and scouts are finding it hard to discover similar players who showcase talent and perform consistently on the pitch at such precocious ages hence the clamour for the prodigous Hazard when he revealed he was ready to leave Ligue 1. Hazard enjoyed his spell at Lille, him being touted as the next big player, and his skills combined with his finishing accuracy have proved the same. The Belgian enjoyed huge success down the flank with Lille, and has followed it up with some blistering performances for Chelsea.

However, Wenger has revealed that the manager met up with Hazard’s agent at his residence to discuss a move. The Frenchman revealed how Arsenal were technically very strong contenders to sign the player, but Chelsea’s financial package to the player ensured he chose the Blues ahead of all the contenders. Hazard will feature for Belgium at the FIFA World Cup next month, truly giving him the right platform to perform at the highest international level and wow the world of football on the sports greatest stage.
