Wenger Hopes To Sign Another One Of Barcelona’s Youngsters

Wenger is planning on using a big part of the recently reported funds to invest in some world class transfers. This will not stop him from staying true to his old transfer policy approach that was directed towards youngsters who have not yet made a name for themselves. According to Metro, it seems that the Frenchman is very interested in signing one of Barcelona’s most promising young footballers. Julio Pleguezuelo Selva is a 15 year old central defender who can also be used as a right back. His qualities and the way he expresses himself on the pitch are pretty similar to current Barca captain, Carlos Puyol.

Barca will not be happy knowing that Arsenal are trying to sign such a promising player especially after losing Toral and Bellerin to the Gunners in the past few years. Even with Barcelona’s opposition, Spanish laws state that Selva cannot be offered a professional contract until next year, meaning that any team can come with a more appealing counter-offer. This approach is not new and has got teams such as Barca really frustrated over time. Several Premier League teams have signed some of the most promising young players who grew up with Barcelona.

Another youngster it seems is to be targeted by Arsenal. This may also be a sign that Wenger will continue his work with the Gunners even if he has not signed a new contract yet and has only one year left on his current deal. The 16 year old players’ name is Fred Onyedinma and is currently with Millwall. Arsenal will have to face tough competition for signing this player as Liverpool and Manchester United also have expressed their interest in this promising midfielder. His price is insignificant for teams such as Arsenal and United. Fred Onyedinma would cost only 200.000 pounds, but is considered a sure investment. He already scored two goals for the U21 teams and looks like a future star that could easily play at the highest level possible. Moving to the Premier League would definitely be a big step for him that will not only increase his confidence and skills, but will also increase his value.
