Wenger Gives Prediction On Whether Liverpool Will Surpass Arsenal Invincibles’ Record

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Liverpool do have a chance of beating the Invincibles’ record of 49 league games unbeaten.

The Reds are currently on a 43 match unbeaten run that has lasted over thirteen months, and when asked whether Jurgen Klopp’s men will surpass his team’s achievement, Wenger replied:

“They are doing exceptionally well. They put a team together that is very efficient, very consistent and has good fighting qualities as well, so let’s see. The records are there to be beaten and they can do it.”

The Invincibles went a whole season without defeat in 2003/04 before finally being beaten by Manchester United the following campaign.

Liverpool will be able to match the record when they face Manchester City on April 4th at the Etihad Stadium so it is not a foregone conclusion that they will surpass the achievement of Wenger’s iconic team. Their opponents were the last team to beat the Reds in the league in the same fixture last January.

The Merseysiders could well have sewn up the title by then, and if their priorities are focused elsewhere, the unbeaten record might not be their primary focus.
