Wenger Could Stand Pat With Podolski

It is a well-known fact that Arsenal have been looking for a striker ever since the beginning of the summer. Their generous transfer budget allows the Gunners to compete with all of Europe’s greatest as long as the proper target emerges. There was talk of Higuain, Benzema, Suarez and many more players’ arrival to Emirates but none made it to London.

According to ESPN, Wenger is not looking to replace Giroud who is now Arsenal’s main man in front of goal. The Frenchman is simply trying to help the 27 year old striker by finding someone that could play with or without him in order to always have a rested forward ready to make the most out of Ozil and Wilshere’s assists.

Arsenal’s boss has always been a fan of Giroud. The Gunner was praised on several occasions by Wenger for his determination, his toughness and most of all because of his unique qualities.

With Walcott out, things will get even harder for Arsenal’s striker who has to push through regardless of his small injuries and the accumulated fatigue. Hopefully, Podolski will be able to take the load off of Giroud’s shoulders. The German forward returned after a 3 month hamstring injury and may be able to become the player Wenger has been trying to buy since the start of last summer.
