Welcome Back Danny Welbeck

Welcome Back Danny Welbeck

Arsenal got three well deserved points after a game that could have gone terribly wrong. Once again The Gunners proved they are the team to believe in and that they are favorites to win the title this year. It was all out attack for Wenger’s side especially during the second half. Leicester, despite some good chances, would not have scored if not for the referee’s poor judgement on Monreal’s tackle on Vardy. Cech would have been more than capable of sealing the goal as proven during the first 40 minutes. It was a pleasure to watch Oxlade-Chamberlain, Bellerin and Ramsey play yesterday. Mertesacker did an excellent job as well when it came to handling Vardy and Okazaki. Monreal annihilated Mahrez and dominated the left flank. Wenger is the one who needs to get most of the praise that come with this win as his moves decided which way the points went.

This win against Leicester proved that Arsenal should finally get the title at the Emirates as they are the only team who beat the Foxes twice this season. Other than Liverpool there is no other team that will have the chance to get the same result.

Even though there are some negatives to analyze after this game, there are a lot more positive things to think about. If Wenger manages to motivate the substitutes into winning against Hull as well, the Gunners have an excellent chance of getting a great result against Barcelona. The big question is though: should they focus only on the Premier League this season? Playing Barca will be quite an energy-consuming experience which comes just 5 days before a very important clash against Manchester United. For Arsenal to win the domestic competition they need to stay in top shape right until the end of the season as they still have to face Tottenham, Everton (3 days after the away game against Barcelona), and also City right after a possible Champions League semi-final. Wenger will have to make an important choice but honestly, the Champions League trophy could wait one more year while the Premier League should not.

Aside from the boost in morale, there’s also the boost that Danny Welbeck got. To score such an important goal after being away for so long will surely get the England international back on his feet a lot sooner. This is good news as Giroud needs someone to fill in for him. All-in-all, this was an excellent Sunday for Arsenal fans who have a lot to look forward to for next week.
