Welbeck Miss May Cost Baldini His Job!

Manchester United were reportedly listening to offers for forward Danny Welbeck on transfer deadline day as he was surplus to requirements following the arrival of Colombia’s Radamel Falcao. Spurs were close to agreeing a loan deal for the England international but the move did not materialize.

Arsenal gazumped the move right at the death and offered hard cash which tilted the deal in their favour. Eventually, Welbeck moved to Arsenal for £16 million which left Spurs chairman Daniel Levy fuming.

New boss Mauricio Pochettino had told Levy that he requires a new striker to break in to the top four. Currently, the London side have Emmanuel Adebayor, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane as their striking options for the season.

Spurs were desperate for a striker due to Soldado being out of form and Kane inexperienced. Their failure to land Welbeck has infuriated Levy, who is set to axe Baldini for his blunder, according to Metro.
