‘We Received Offers’ Club President Confirms Four Teams Have Met Asking Price For £72m Rated Arsenal Target

Lille president Gerard Lopez has confirmed that four clubs have met Nicolas Pepe’s €80m (£72m) asking price.

He revealed that one of those sides was Napoli but did not mention the names of the other three teams:

“We received offers for him that meet our demands from four big clubs. Napoli made an offer for Pepe and they met our asking price of 80 million (euros).”

Le10 Sport believes that the Partenopei, Arsenal, Manchester United and Inter Milan are the four teams involved.

The French magazine reports that the Gunners and Napoli are currently leading the way to sign Pepe, but Lopez also revealed that the 24-year-old has yet to make up his mind about his next club:

“Now it’s up to the player to decide where he wants to go on the basis of the offers that his agents have received from those four clubs. Pepe will return from holiday on Monday and I think and by mid-next week he will make his choice.”

Whether Arsenal are, in fact, one of the teams involved, it is difficult to tell. While reports in France say the London club are in the mix, the club’s refusal to meet Wilfrid Zaha’s £80m price tag suggests otherwise.

Pepe is valued at just £8m less, and with the Gunners reportedly having a limited transfer budget, you have to question whether they would have the funds to complete the transfer.
