Arsenal supporters have been debating whether the club should make yet another attempt to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar in the January transfer window.
The Frenchman has been linked with a switch to the Emirates for a number of years, without a deal materialising, and fans on Twitter are very much split on whether he would be the right player to strengthen the Gunners’ midfield now:
We need to move on from this brother

Aouar is the new Draxler

If it is possible why not. He brings another dynamic to the team.

What is wrong with people? His performance these past couple of years have been poor and no other club has been interested in him but still people think Arsenal should sign him? It will be an Odegaard mistake waiting to happen.

Aouar has had a pretty average season so far, by all accounts. Up until recently, he had barely made an impact but five goals in his last eight games have brought him back to prominence.
It must be pointed out that the 23-year-old was reportedly offered to Arsenal in the summer, only for the London club to turn down the opportunity to sign him.
Whether the Gunners’ stance has changed since then, it isn’t known. Manager Mikel Arteta does need to reinforce his options in midfield, especially with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny expected to be absent for the African Cup of Nations, but would Aouar be the right signing?
