“We Have To…” Club Chief Drops Major Hint About Potential Sales As Arsenal Consider 55M Transfer

Lyon Chief Scout Bruno Cheyrou has confirmed that the Ligue One club will be looking to sell players before the transfer window closes next month.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a bid for Lucas Paqueta and Cheyrou believes that Lyon will have to seriously consider any offers as they look to cut down the size of their first-team squad:

“We are ready for any eventuality, but we have to reduce the workforce. Departures on a case-by-case basis, we will analyse, but economic data are taken into account.”

Gunners technical director Edu has said that he is a fan of Paqueta‘s but he did pour cold water on rumours that the London club are preparing a bid for the Brazilian international.

Reports suggest that Lyon may hold out for around €65m (£55m) to sell the 24-year-old, which is likely to be well beyond what Arsenal would be willing to pay.

While Paqueta is clearly on the club’s radar, you would have to think that his valuation would have to dramatically drop to tempt the Gunners into making an approach.
