Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is now officially the club’s captain following the removal of Granit Xhaka from the role. He was, though, given the armband for the 1-1 draw against Wolves, and he got on the scoresheet once again.

His goal at the weekend was his 50th for the club in just 78 appearances since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund just under two years ago. The Gunners’ Youtube channel have put together a compilation of all the captain’s goals:

Aubameyang has certainly proved to be worth his weight in gold since Arsenal paid £56m for him in the January 2018 transfer window. He is in the prime of his career and has effectively been carrying the side through many games this campaign.

Whether the extra responsibility of the captaincy will inspire him to even greater heights, we shall have to wait and see, and Gunners fans will be hoping that he can lead by example.
