With negotiations for Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic seemingly going nowhere, there has been some discussion among Arsenal fans about who could be signed as an alternative.
Three other strikers have been regularly linked with a move to the Emirates. Lille’s Jonathan David, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak have all reportedly been considered as targets.
However, Isak is the only one with a release clause (set at €90m or £75m) and, when asked whether the Gunners should trigger it before the transfer deadline at the end of the month, supporters on Twitter were mostly against the idea:
Waste of money Isak

Everyone raving about this isak. What's he done 🤷🤦🏼♂️

Isak is not worth that. Would rather keep the money for the summer.

Don’t think he’s worth his release clause but if Auba is willing to go then maybe we’d have to

Isak isnt worth 75 mil sry

75M£ for a player outscored by Aubameyang? I don't think that's smart business. Maybe we can strike a deal with Watkins or DCL but Isak and David are really difficult this window

I’ve vouched for Isak for a few seasons now, but £75m is just ridiculous, £50m is fine though

Isak is a 25 mill£ at the very best. Bang average

He's regressed significantly. He's not what's needed..that would be buying for buying sake. Massive upside but this side needs someone to carry the physical brunt and score the goals. He's not that guy right now. If they were buying, he's worth nowhere near the buy out

Isak’s eight goals in 24 appearances this campaign isn’t exactly impressive and it would be a massive risk if Arsenal were to shell out on the Swedish international.
Especially in comparison to Vlahovic, who is a year younger, their goal records are miles apart, with the Serbian having racked up 20 in all competitions so far this season.
