“Wasn’t The Difference Maker…” Pundit Tells Arsenal To Snub Deal For Chelsea Star As He Backs Bid For 86M Alternative

Former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell is sceptical about the club’s reported interest in Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic.

The Gunners have been mentioned as possible suitors for the American international, along with Manchester United and Liverpool, but Campbell feels Mikel Arteta’s side should focus their efforts on recruiting Mykhaylo Mudryk:

“I think he’s a really good player, don’t get me wrong, but he wasn’t the difference-maker at Chelsea in those games. He showed his qualities against England. I know England were poor, but I think the USA did really well and he showed that he can play at the highest level.”

“With Mikel Arteta’s coaching, we might be able to get even more out of him. But, the bottom line is, does he fit their profile? That’s the big key. Mudryk fits the profile. Pulisic, it might be a difficult one to do because it’s Chelsea.”

Pulisic is likely to be the cheaper of the two players. There have been some suggestions he could even be available on loan but, if the American is sold, he may only cost around £35m.

In stark contrast, Mudryk is valued at €100m (£86m), although some reports have claimed that he could be signed for a fee between £40m and £60m.

As Campbell points out, though, the deciding factor is likely to be the fact that Chelsea will be reluctant to sell one of their players to a rival. They have offloaded the likes of Petr Cech and David Luiz to Arsenal in the past but the two clubs are now in very different positions to when those deals were made.
