Arsenal legend Ian Wright has been talking about how influential football was in keeping him on the right track as a child.
The former Gunners star would go on to become an icon at Highbury following his goalscoring exploits for the club but he says that the beginning of his love for football started very early on in his life.
Although Wright openly admits he wasn’t very good academically he used the beautiful game as a form of escape from other aspects of his life. It was the one area where he’d excelled in and it kept him motivated to go on and forge a professional career in the sport.
To this day, even after his playing days are over, the ex-Arsenal striker says that football still remains just important to him as it did when he was younger.
