Vermaelen Set For £11milion Move To Manchester

Arsenal’s captain is reportedly set to move to Manchester United who seem set on spending big this summer. With two transfers already completed, Vermaelen seems next in line. He should become the perfect replacement for either Vidic or Ferdinand who both left the club. According to Metro, the 28 year old is going to cost Manchester United £11million pounds. With one year left on his contract, the Belgian international seems keen on leaving the Emirates where he lost his spot in Wenger’s starting line-up. Although allegedly refusing offers from Barcelona and Real last summer just to stay in London, Vermaelen is now set on leaving. The transfer is set to get finalized right after the defender returns from the World Cup.

It is expected that several other transfers will occur after the final takes place. Vermaelen will join a list of 11 players which were announced on the club’s website as no longer part of the future group. It is still hard to understand what Wenger is trying to do especially with such a thin squad in some areas. No transfers took place and no actual negotiations went down. Hopefully the Frenchman will be able to make a competitive squad before the beginning of next season. It will be close to impossible for Arsenal to fight with Chelsea, City, Liverpool, United and Tottenham who are investing a lot of money into creating competitive squads.
