Vela Set To Return To Arsenal

It’s been two years since Carlos Vela left Arsenal to join Real Sociedad. He failed to become a team regular especially with Van Persie still playing for Arsenal at that time. It is a strange move for Wenger who knows Vela best. The Mexican international failed to impress while in the Premier League but managed excellent performances while on loan to Spain. He spent three seasons performing for three different teams including Sociedad where he became part of the starting line-up. While on loan with WBA he only managed 8 appearances before leaving to Spain on yet another loan deal.

According to the Daily Express, Vela is clearly better suited for Spanish football. Even though he spent 6 years playing for Arsenal he only managed to score three times in his 29 appearances. The 25 year old visibly improved his game after signing a permanent deal with Sociedad. In two and a half seasons he has made 72 appearances and scored 30 goals which is more than he scored for all the other teams he played for put together.

Even so Vela seems determined to prove to Arsenal fans that he is a changed man and that he can help the Gunners claim more trophies after ending their decade long drought. Hopefully for both him and Arsenal, he will perform just as well at the Emirates as he did for Sociedad during the last season where he managed an impressive 16 goals and 12 assists in 32 games.
