Van Persie Looking To Return To Arsenal?

Robin Van Persie returning to North London would mean that Arsenal are going backwards not going forwards, according to Metro. Seemingly, the Manchester United striker is however still pondering a move back to Arsenal, after the Red Devils seem to have lost the plot under new manager David Moyes this season.

Van Persie began his career with Dutch side Feyenoord, before making a switch to London in 2004 where Arsene Wenger planned to include him in his new strike force. It was a period when Thierry Henry’s career at the club was coming to a close, and van Persie was lined up as a replacement. The 30-year old did take up the responsibility and developed into a natural leader in the side. After 8 seasons without a trophy, van Persie left the club for rivals United, who won the Barclays Premier League in the Dutchman’s first season at the club. However, with Sir Alex Ferguson retiring, the club lost momentum under Moyes, and he is under severe pressure from the press and supporters. United stand in 7th place, and in no position to win a UEFA Champions League spot.

The irony of the situation speaks for itself, as Arsenal supporters felt betrayed after their captain left for enemy territory but now RVP might well fancy a move back to Arsenal even though he is unlikely to be received well.
