Two Serie A Giants Chase Arsenal Stopper Who Looks To Have No Future At The Emirates

Arsenal centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos is being targeted by two Serie A clubs, according to two separate reports coming out of Italy.

Napoli are said to be keen on snapping up the Greek international, and it is believed their interest is not linked to the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes.

Another report suggests that Roma are also interested in Sokratis as the Giallorossi look for a potential alternative to Chris Smalling. The Serie A side would like to sign the Manchester United defender on a permanent basis after taking him on loan last season, but they are struggling to agree a transfer fee.

It has forced them into looking at alternatives and they have identified the Gunners centre-back as a potential option. They already have a good relationship with the London club after signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Arsenal are expected to be open to offers for Sokratis with the 32-year-old having reportedly been told by head coach Mikel Arteta that he has no future at the club.
