Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig will battle it out to sign Arsenal attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe on loan, according to the Independent.

The 18-year-old spent the second half of last season in Germany with Leipzig but injury curtailed his playing time.

Smith Rowe is currently recovering from a groin injury which has plagued him for the last six months, but he is currently undergoing rehab.

He is expected to get back to full fitness very soon, with the Independent reporting that a decision will likely be made within the “next four weeks” as to where he will be playing his football this season.

In addition to Wolfsburg and Leipzig, an unnamed Spanish side has registered their interest, while a number of Premier League and Championships clubs have also made enquiries.

Smith Rowe excelled in the Europa League last campaign, and manager Unai Emery is keen to see him develop his game further with regular first-team action.
