With the league game against City only a few weeks away, Arsenal’s FA Cup clash against their Premier League title rivals on Friday evening will effectively be a dress rehearsal for that match.

It won’t quite have the same importance as the fixture at the Emirates, but the cup tie will be a chance to put down a marker nonetheless.

Manager Mikel Arteta is unlikely to make too many changes to his team as a consequence. A loss at the Etihad could dent confidence, and with the Gunners’ next match on Saturday week, there is no need to rest players.
