Transfer news: Aaron Ramsey contract latest

Arsenal have failed to make any ground on a new deal for midfielder Aaron Ramsey, according to reports from The Sun.

Ramsey’s current deal with the Gunners expires next year, and manager Unai Emery is keen to tie the Welshman down to a new long-term deal.

However a wall has been hit over wages, with Ramsey reportedly wanting a significant increase on his current £110,000 per week wage packet before he commits his future to the club.

Arsenal are understood to be reluctant to meet the Wales star’s demands though, with finances at the club tight after splashing the cash on a number of high profile signings, including £56 million Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, over the last few years.

Failure to tie down Ramsey to a new deal however could see him leave The Emirates in January, with Arsenal having to sell-up to avoid losing him on a free next summer.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Lazio are all understood to be keen on the 27-year-old, while Barcelona has also been touted as a shock destination for the midfielder.
