Transfer List Update

Given the never-ending list of injuries that haunt Arsenal each season, rumors of all sorts of transfers are inevitable. Some are outrageous and some are doable but all need to be analyzed to a certain extent. Going forward, for now, it seems that none of the rumors hitting the press could be completed by the end of January. Here are the three most important pieces of information that made the news and involved Arsenal during the past couple of days:

  1. Isco to Arsenal in January – not sure why this would be plausible for anyone. Sure, the Spaniard is something else and given the chance, he would definitely shine. He is spectacular with the ball, he can shoot and he can pass. In a way he is similar to Di Maria who was pushed away to make way for names with bigger marketing potential. Unfortunately, Isco does not meet any of Arsenal’s needs right now. He is basically a combination between Ozil, Cazorla and Ramsey which means he would be a backup for either of the three. That is not an option for a player valued at £35m. The 23-year-old might be of some interest during the summer if he turns the left wing into his primary position.
  2. Javier Hernandez to provide competition for Giroud – According to Squawka Wenger could be looking to provide competition for Giroud who has improved his game massively since Walcott started pushing for the same striker position. It is hard to believe that Wenger will bring in a striker when the attack is doing so good. It is even harder to believe that he will bring Hernandez to the Premier League which is the Championship where he was least productive. This does not look like an option for the summer either.
  3. Guardiola to replace Wenger – this is probably the most outrageous news that hit the internet lately. It is clear that that the Spaniard is leaving Bayern Munich after Ancelotti apparently signed a pre contract, but seeing Guardiola at the Emirates is too farfetched. Even if his destination will probably be the Premier League, it is unthinkable that Wenger will be removed especially when the team is playing so well. Chelsea, City and Manchester United do look like probable destinations for Pep however.
